When a 999 call is received in the ambulance service, an ambulance response is dispatched.
At the same time, a CFR on-call in the area can be alerted and asked to attend the incident to ensure that help reaches the patient as quickly as possible.
As our volunteers are based within the Bridgnorth area, so we may only be a minute or two away from a medical emergency.
All of our CFR volunteers are trained in advanced first aid by West Midlands Ambulance Service, once we arrive a the patient we will provide care and treatment until the arrival of a full time ambulance resource.
A common misconception is that we are allowed to drive on blue lights and sirens, however we are not able to do this. We have to follow the rules of the road the same as everybody else.
